AOur story

What was actually taken and what does it mean?

Tidebreak started with a question our founders kept coming back to after years investigating cyber attacks and data breaches: what was actually taken, and what does it mean? The answer used to take specialists months at considerable cost, because the data was too convoluted for anything faster to be trusted.

Rather than accept that as the cost of doing business, they built Tidebreak to answer it properly: a single point of reference that puts the full picture of a case within reach of one person.

Between them, our founders bring over 45 years in cyber security, forensics and investigations. That's the reason Tidebreak reads a case the way a litigator or investigator would, not the way a generic AI tool does. Litigators, in-house teams and investigators all face a version of the same problem: cases too large for any one person to read in full, so crucial evidence is at risk of being missed or outsourced at cost to third parties. Tidebreak exists so one person can hold the whole picture in days, not weeks, without ever having to cut corners on what gets checked.

That question of "what was actually taken, and what does it mean?" is one that our founders return to on every case. Their answer to it, distilled to one line: investigate every document, prove every word. One engine, one guarantee, because trust isn't something Tidebreak asks for, it's something it earns, on every run.

BOur team

One shared background in forensics and investigations.

Johannes Stillig

Technical Co-founder

Johannes has spent two decades in cyber security, moving from hands-on technical work, penetration testing, digital forensics and incident response, through to building and leading security functions at board level. That progression is deliberate: his technical grounding has earned him credibility with cyber security, intelligence and legal specialists who need someone who understands the problem, and with the boards and executives who need someone who can translate risk into a decision.

He led in-house security at PayPal, built the cyber security practice from the ground up at Schillings, and has spent the past seven years as CISO of a privately held organisation with a global footprint, spanning security strategy, architecture, incident response, physical security and vendor due diligence.

To be announced...

Senior Advisor

Twenty five years in cyber security, spanning consultancy leadership, a senior security role at a Big Four firm, and a Group CISO position at a FTSE 100 business.

Sam Billett

Advisor

With twenty years' experience implementing communications, brand and digital strategies for organisations including Schillings, Vodafone and Brooks Macdonald, Sam brings a working knowledge of how regulated, legal and reputation-sensitive audiences decide who and what to trust.

From rebuilding a law firm's entire market position around prevention rather than crisis, to developing flagship cyber security research presented to the world's leading wealth owners and international families, Sam advises Tidebreak on how it is positioned and built for its audiences — namely, those for whom an unsupported claim is not a stylistic flaw, but a professional and regulatory risk.

Sam has spent his career building the digital infrastructure that a successful communications and brand strategy relies on, leading large-scale business transformation projects and AI-led growth strategies, so that the platforms and products he delivers on are built to earn the trust he is positioning them for.
